I want one just for watching YouTube and movies. I don't need all the fancy 3D things. I just want to see what I see on my computer, but on the Oculus Rift. As if it was just an external monitor. Is this possible?
Something like this, but without all the fancy 3D:

I tried the DK1 with Euro truck and nearly threw up. 11/10

I tried a demo one out at my school and found the resolution to be pretty shit. Might not be very useful as a computer display, although I'm sure you could run it as one.

From what I've read it isn't that bad on the DK2 because they increased the resolution.

I would imagine I was using an older one then, because I remember being floored by how shitty it looked. In every other respect it was pretty cool, and I think the place I used it was just using it as a display and mirroring it to an external projector as well.

I'm not sure how you could get any less fancy than Virtual Desktop. It's just a screen floating in space.

Don't waste your money for just watching movies. It's fantastic for iRacing or whatever, but it's not good for movies. Low resolution and all that jazz.

It would be an expensive monitor. Probably not a good idea unless you are developing VR content.

At $350 USD it isn't that expensive.
